How about a new Wordmobi, running in S40 phones as well ?

Yes, a lot of time without posts here. Python for Symbian had its support discontinued by Nokia and I lost my motivation to continue to improve my own client for WordPress after this fact.

However, when I was attending Nokia World 2011 I decided to give a try in Java J2ME, exploring the opportunities available due to the large base of S40 phones. Writing in Jave J2ME will allow me to have a client for S40, S60 and new Symbian phones, with few changes (I hope).

I did not decide yet if it will be open source or not. I did not even decide if I will finish it People love open source but the response from community is too shy. I received mainly bugs report and (valuable) locale translations. Three or four code contributions only, from great people with passion for programming and blogging. I am very grateful to these people, it is important to say. But only ONE dollar of donation does not help so much, it is better not to think about SLOCCount

I am not complaining, I learned a lot when creating Wordmobi, an invaluable retribution indeed. I am only publishing facts. If you do not have a huge open source project it is really hard to get good response from community or monetize your application. So, if Wordmobi becomes closed source, do not blame me because an application in Ovi store has some costs.

This project just started and will certainly change but you can see some screenshots below.

After more than one year, a new Wordmobi version is available (0.9.5). No new features, just adding support for Indonesian language. Thanks to Nikko Haendratnio for providing the translation ! Installation and sources at the project page:

I think you already know but I will say it again. WordPress is releasing a new WordPress client for Maemo and Symbian. It is Qt based and available at:

http://dev.nokia.wordpress.org/

As it is open source as well so bloggers can have now two open alternatives for using WordPress blog system !

I believe that it is to early to discuss about “Wordmobi´s future” or start to make comparisons. Moreover, diversity is important and I am testing it as well.

Nice things happen when you share The last one was a new patch for get-blogging, from Shree Kumar. Curious ? Please, see this post, at Shree’s blog.

We are still discussing how to integrate this feature in Wordmobi. The problem is the application signature, required for Location capability.

Shree has a trip in the next week and it will be covered using Wordmobi+geo-blogging. Of course, we will follow this trip as well.

Returning to Python 1.9.6 and new Wordmobi 0.9.3

Please, it is necessary to use Python 1.9.6 and Wordmobi 0.9.3. since Python 1.9.7 has a bug in mktime() function and you will loose your post if you decide to save it instead publishing.

Just install Python 1.9.6 runtime and Wordmobi 0.9.3. If you have problems when lunching file selection dialog, please use Wordmobi 0.9.3 with simple file selection

I am glad to announce Wordmobi version 0.9.2, with the following features and changes:

Standard S60 media gallery selection using pymgfetch
Localization for statistics dialog
Russian support
Password changes will not remove local persistence anymore
Improve “take picture” with white balance, all image modes, flash modes and exposure modes. A bug in Pys60 is not allowing full screen preview of images.
Adding link to the full image when it is scaled

Please, download Python runtime 1.9.7 and Wordmobi 0.9.2 and install them. If you have problems when lunching file selection dialog, please use Wordmobi 0.9.2 with simple file selection. And take a look in the install page.

Since last Wednesday my internet connection is not working. In the last two days it is intermittent. Several calls to my ISP (telefonica) and no solution yet. This problem is blocking the releasing of my last Wordmobi version (0.9.2).

By the way, I am thinking about a Wordmobi T-shirt. The idea is to collect funds for buying an N900 and port Wordmobi to Maemo 5. I need to check if I can use wordpress symbol but first proposal is below:
